The six volumes of
Australian Rainforest Plants, in the forest and in the garden
celebrate the extraordinary beauty of Australian rainforest
plants. They provide a botanically accurate and easily understood
reference for gardeners, students, farmers, botanists and other
plant lovers. Each book contains 72 pages of colour photographs
of rainforest plants, trees, shrubs, orchids, vines, ferns, epiphytes
and ground covers.

comprehensive index of common and scientific names is available
on line. It covers all plants mentioned in all six volumes.

Over 100 native plants
are described in each book, with a colour photo for each species
enabling identification by emphasising its distinctive features.
Each plant's appearance, distribution and behavior in the wild is
described and honest information is provided on whether and how
to grow it in a home garden. Additional information is included
on practical uses, especially Aboriginal uses, on edibility by humans
and other organisms, and on suitability for regeneration or timber
plantings.Tips on propagation are also supplied.
No species are repeated and both common and rare
species are included. The rainforest plants shown occur predominantly
in the eastern states of Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and
Tasmania, but some are found in Western Australia, the Northern
Territory and on Lord Howe Island. Rainforest types covered
range from the cold wet temperate forests of the south to the wet
and dry tropical forests of the north.
Family names, common names and recent scientific
name changes are included for each plant.
